Careers

Year 7

In Year 7, students begin their journey into Careers and Work-Related Experiences (CWRE) by exploring their own interests, strengths, and aspirations. The focus is on building self-awareness and an understanding of the world of work. Students will take part in activities that help them identify a wide range of jobs and career sectors, including discussions around the skills and qualities valued by employers. This early stage aims to inspire curiosity and begin connecting school subjects with real-life careers in a fun and engaging way.

Year 8

As students progress into Year 8, they continue to develop their knowledge of careers and the world of work. There is a growing focus on decision-making skills and understanding how their current learning links to future pathways. Activities will include encounters with different roles and sectors, including employer engagement where possible. Students will also begin to consider the idea of goal setting and planning ahead, which will support them when thinking about their future subject choices in Year 9. The aim is to build a foundation of confidence, knowledge, and aspiration that will support informed choices as they move through school.
